Rune Factory Walkthrough - Getting Married
Unlike other Harvest Moon games, marriage is not expected in Rune Factory. You can end the game just fine without ever saying “I do,” but it is an option. In all, you have 11 lovely ladies to choose for your bride, although Lynette only becomes available once the storyline is over, which stinks.
Marriage Requirements in Rune Factory
Like all Harvest Moon games, there are certain requirements you must meet before you can ask that special girl to be yours. First, you need 10 Love Points with the girl that you pick in Rune Factory. Next, you need to have upgraded your house and have bought the big bed from Ivan. Besides that, each girl will have their own requirements for you to get them to marry you so you will have to find out what those are and meet them before you can marry one of them.
Oh, and there is no blue feather in this Harvest Moon game, so you needn’t worry about it.
Eligible Ladies
There are 11 ladies in Rune Factory that you can woo and marry, if you so choose. Each one has a very special set of likes that you must pay attention to if you are to win anyone’s heart. Giving gifts usually raises the ladies love for you, as does talking to them daily and at festivals, and inviting them out on special love themed festivals.
Mist
She is the first girl you meet. She helps your character by giving him water, a house and a plot of land to farm. She is also the default girl in Rune Factory, making her one of the easiest to court and marry, if you would like. She will come and talk to you on an almost daily basis if you don’t talk to her, and she is often hanging around your farm or even inside of your house!
Her house is right across from yours.
Birthday: Fall 1
Favorite Gift: Emery Flower
Gifts she likes: Radish, 4-Leaf Clover, Fried Udon, Baked Apple, Cake
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Tomato Seeds, Tempura Udon, Flour, Sardine
Raise Love Points by:
Talk to her daily and give her gifts she likes. She also likes the Spring Festival and the day the Beaches Open, so talk to her on those occasions as well (and give gifts!) A birthday present for her will get you a huge boost of Love Points.
Marry her by:
Clear Danann Cave by defeating the boss.
Till all the soil in the field Mist gave you. You don’t have to plant anything, but it must be totally clear of all rocks and stumps.
Then talk to her in her house and you can propose.
Bianca
She comes and sees you in your house on the second day you live there. She says it smells (who wouldn’t want to marry her after that?). Bianca is a rich and lonely girl. She lives in the mansion at the top of the town with her father. Since she is so rich, she doesn’t care for gifts.
Birthday: Summer 8
Gift to give her as your wife: Cake.
Raise Love Points by:
Talk to her daily and on festival days. If you have enough Love Points, you can ask her to join you on Moonlit Eve and Sacred Night, which will raise your Love Points even higher. She is rude at first, but the more you talk to her the more she’ll like you (and she starts liking you very quickly).
Marry her by:
Have 3 or more friend points with her father, Jasper.
Talk to her in the plaza on a holiday between 9 am and 3 pm.
Rosetta
Rosetta lives and works in the general store, since her father owns it. She is the one who picks up the items you place in your shipping bin on a daily basis. She is a bit of a tom-boy and is not a romantic at all. Also, she and Mist do not get along.
Birthday: Fall 21
Favorite Gift: Baked Potato
Gifts she likes: Corn, Corn on the Cob, Hot Milk, Hot Chocolate, Strawberry, Omelet.
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Corn on the Cob.
Raise Love Points by:
Give her presents and talk to her daily. Also, the more you use the shipping bin, the more Love Points she will get for you.
Marry her by:
Visit the library and read about the White Stone.
Have 3 Friend points with Jean, her father.
Talk to Rosetta while she is in her room (above the general store) after 8 pm. She’ll tell you more about the stone.
Go to Toros Cave (you’ll need to have passed Carmite Cave to get the permit), and go back into the icy area. There is a a large ice stalagmite you can investigate. When you do, you will get the White Stone.
Give the White Stone to Rosetta and ask her to marry you.
Tabatha
She is Bianca’s maid and also lives in the mansion. She is not a normal human (she’s an elf!) and she really loves monsters. Most of the time she is in the mansion, but on the holidays she goes out to Kasimir Ruins.
Birthday: Fall 12
Favorite Gift: Rice Porridge.
Gifts she likes: Apple, Grape, 4-Leaf Clover, Mixed Juice, Mixed Oil, Flour.
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Corn.
Raise Love Points by:
Talk to her and give her gifts daily. Also, since she is the one that gives you the Pet Glove, you should use it. The more monsters you have and the better you care for will raise her Love Points more than anything else.
Marry her by:
Build all the monster huts you can and add all the floors you can to each hut and fill the huts with monsters (4 per floor). You need 50 monsters.
On a holiday in which it is not raining, go to the Kasimir Ruins between 9 am and 6 pm and talk to Tabatha about your monsters. Then you can ask her to marry you.
Felicity
She is the mayor’s daughter and has been sick with a strange illness for the past year. She is usually inside Neumann’s Farm or her own house. She is a kind girl who only wants to help others.
Birthday: Fall 5
Favorite Gift: Eggplant Curd.
Gifts she likes: Toast, Cheesecake, Pizza, Jam Roll, Butter Roll.
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Chocolate, Cookies.
Raise Love Points by:
Talk to her daily. Give her gifts on her birthday, the Harvest Festival and the Spring Festival. Also, be sure to talk to her a lot on the Spring Festival and Beaches Open day. If you have enough Love Points, be sure to ask her to join you on Sacred Night and Moonlit Eve.
Marry her by:
If you want to marry Felicity, you must find out what caused her illness and cure it.
First, go to the library and read about the Cursed Stone.
After rescuing Ceci from Clemens Cave, talk to her and she will tell you the book about the Cursed Stone is very scary.
Have 3 Friend Points with Godwin, Felicity’s father.
Talk to Felicity about the stone when she is in her room. She will give it to you. Put it in your rucksack.
Take the stone to the doctor and talk to him about it. He will throw the rock away for you.
Go back to Felicity and talk to her. Her health will get better now that she no longer has the stone.
Meet Felicity on a holiday while she is in the Plaza between 12 pm and 4 pm and propose to her.
Tori
She is shy and loves books (she works in the library!). Her mother is the inn keeper, so her room is there, but she also likes to go to the baths. Once you talk to her more, she will open up to you.
Birthday: Winter 26
Favorite Gift: Plum Pudding.
Gifts she likes: Vegetable Juice, Vegetable Oil, Strawberry, Grape, Pink Cat, Pudding, Large Cheese.
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Baked Apple.
Raise Love Points by:
Talk to her and give her gifts daily. Be sure to spend time in the library reading the books. Buying books also raises her Love Points for you. Talk to her on festivals and give her gifts on her birthday, Spring Festival and Harvest Festival as well. If you can, ask her to join you on Moonlit Eve and Sacred Night. Also, talk to her when she is in the bath house on Tuesday and Thursday.
Marry her by:
You need a Buffamoo for Tori to marry you.
Get 8 Friend Points with the Buffamoo and you will get Large Milk.
On a holiday between 9 pm and 10 pm Tori will be at the summit of Mt. Clemens, on the north path towards the bridge. Give her the Large Milk and propose.
Lara
She is the nurse in the clinic and she is always worried about your health. She is usually inside the clinic most of the time.
Birthday: Winter 1
Favorite Gift: Chocolate Cake.
Gifts she likes: Strawberry, Jams, Pancakes, Donuts, French Toast
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Medicinal Herb.
Raise Love Points by:
Give her daily gifts. Also, talk to her at the Spring Festival and Beaches Open and go out with her on Moonlit Eve and Sacred Night. Be sure to give her gifts on her birthday, the Harvest Festival and the Spring Festival.
Marry her by:
Rescue Ceci from Clemens Cave.
Have 3 Friend Points with Russell.
After that, visit the library between 6 am and 9 am and go upstairs. Ceci thanks you and gives you a Lapis Lazuli.
Give Lara the Lapis Lazuli and propose.
Melody
She dresses like a witch (maybe she is one, that is never really made clear) and runs the bathhouse, where you can recharge your Rune Points for 10 gold after 3 pm. She lives above the bathhouse and rarely leaves the building, but if she does she will be at the Kasimir Ruins, or about town on a festival day.
Birthday: Spring 11
Favorite Gift: Relax Tea.
Gifts she likes: All wild grasses.
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Curry Noodles.
Raise Love Points by:
She doesn’t really care about gifts (she even tells you that!), as she only really likes people who take a bath everyday. Therefore, visit the baths daily (don’t go into the women’s side, she’ll get mad). It costs 10 gold, but it is worth it. If you have enough Love Points take her out on Moonlit Eve and Sacred Night.
Marry her by:
Talk to her on Friday between 9 am and 3 pm at the Kasimir Ruins.
Have 3 Friend Points with Lady Ann, the inn keeper.
Talk to Sharron at the inn after 9 pm daily.
Talk to Melody before 3 pm when she is in her room. You will need 3 Friend Points with her to be able to do this.
Propose when you would like.
Sharron
She mostly stands around outside of Kasimir Ruins as she is investigating it, or stays at the inn. She is a bit rude and doesn’t really want to talk to you at first. It takes some work for her to warm up to you.
Birthday: Winter 19
Favorite Gift: Relax Tea Leaves.
Gifts she likes: Wind Crystal, Fire Crystal, Water Crystal.
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Donut.
Raise Love Points by:
You must unlock Clemens Cave before you can start getting Love Points with Sharron. Inside you can mine Fire Crystals and give them to her daily. Once you get the permit into the Kasimir Ruins you can talk to her on Wednesdays when she is inside the ruins.
Marry her by:
Clear Mt. Gigant and defeat the boss. You will get Grimoire’s Scale.
Take the scale to the blacksmith, Leo, and he’ll craft a sword from it.
Give the sword to Sharron and propose.
Mei
She is a visitor to Kardia Village and doesn’t really like to be bothered. She either stays at the inn or is near the ocean. She claims she is your elder, although she doesn’t look it.
Birthday: Fall 10
Favorite Gift: Baked Rice Balls.
Gifts she likes: Lobster, Lamp Squid, Lover Snapper, fish higher than level 26.
Gifts she dislikes: none
Gifts to give her as your wife: Baked Rice Balls.
Raise Love Points by:
She doesn’t really care about gifts very much. Talk to her during all festivals and give her a present on her birthday and 10 fish on Fishing Day.
Catch Lover Snapper in the Misty Bloom Cave (only available in Winter so be sure to catch plenty!).
Marry her by:
Upgrade to a Sacred Rod. You need a home forge to do this and to have made your way nearly to the end of Danann Cave.
Go into the Misty Bloom Cave and catch a Lover Snapper.
Trade your fish with a friend with the DS Wifi connection to get it to a high level, 80+.
Give it to Mei and propose.
Lynette
She is a military commander who will move into Mist’s house after the main storyline is over. Only then can you woe and marry her. She is either on the roadway near the village or at Mist’s house.
Birthday: Fall 25
Favorite Gift: 4 Leaf Clover
Gifts she likes: Large Yogurt, Bamboo Sprout.
Gifts she dislikes: Strawberry.
Gifts to give her as your wife: Apple Pie
Raise Love Points by:
Give her gifts and talk to her daily. Also, talk to her on the Spring Festival and Beaches Open and ask her out on Moonlit Eve and Sacred Night.
Marry her by:
Have 8 Friend Points with everyone in the village.
Talk to her a lot and the proposal will come up once the basic marriage requirements are met.
Love Festivals
There are a few festivals in Rune Factory that are for lovers. Be sure to talk to the girl you want on these, or ask them out, for it will usually raise your Love Points with them quite a bit.
Spring Festival - Spring 18. Give the girls you like chocolate for cookies to raise Love Points. You can give each girl up to 10. However, you have to bake the cookies yourself.
Beaches Open - Summer 1. Talk to the girl you like.
Harvest Festival - Fall 7. Give crops to everyone. It will raise both Friendship Points and Love Points.
Moonlit Eve - Fall 17. If you have 4 Love Points or higher with a girl, you can talk to her (ask during the day!) and go out on a date that night. Meet her between 6 pm and midnight and talk on Mt. Clemens.
Winter Festival - Winter 6. If you have 5 Love Points or more with a girl, talk to her and get a piece of chocolate from her.
Sacred Night - Winter 24. Spend the night with a girl you have 7 or more Love Points with. Be sure to ask in advance!
After Marriage
After you get married in Rune Factory, only a few things change. Your wife will move in with you and make you food every morning which you can eat later in the day to revive some Rune Points. Also, after a few months she will have a baby. However, there is no interaction with the child and it will never grow from an infant.
