While growing up, we're told countless times that the menial chores we're assigned by grown ups will build character. Fortunately, when it comes to games like Mutants and Masterminds, all you really need is a character sheet and some imagination!

No Character Sheets for Real Life!
Real life is hectic. Countless times, we find ourselves racing to beat a deadline, or get out the door to make an appointment, or forget to pick something up on our way. There are times when I leave the house, make it to the car, have to turn back around and get something I forgot in the house several times before I finally get on the road. On a good day, I'll have to turn the car back around for something as well.
It's a shame we don't have players controlling our movements and actions, with all our valuables written neatly down on our own character sheets, so we never forget anything again.

What Use is a Mutants and Masterminds Character Sheet?
"Help!" Your super-human senses detect a woman's cries from the depths of a dark alley on the other side
of the city. This looks like a job for Super-You! Deftly, you spring into action! You quickly tear off the shirt you use to hide your identity, and dash down the stairs. Suddenly you realize you forgot to put on your spandex uniform underneath your clothes and you're standing next to your awesome-mobile shirtless.
You run inside and suit up, confident that with your super-speed, there's still time to save the woman in distress! You get to the awesome-mobile, and realize you forgot your keys. Again, you run inside, and dash back out! Ugh! You forgot your wallet!
This looks like a job for... someone else. She's probably already been saved by someone else anyway.
If your player was doing his job, all this stuff would have been written on your character sheet, and you would have been first on the scene!

So now that you understand the importance of a Mutants and Masterminds character sheet, you'll need one of your own to make sure your character's utility belt is never left in the cab, which you only had to take cause you misplaced your keys!
Of course, if you're always looking for bigger and better, there are folks who have created spreadsheet character sheets for your use. Here is a small cache of utilities you can use for your Mutants and Masterminds game, included a couple such Excel spreadsheets.
As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Mutants and Masterminds character sheets, or even just the game in general. Do you have some stories you'd like to share about your experiences in-game, or even just comments about this article. Any thoughts are welcome in the comments below, just let me know you're out there!
