Get The Cheese (3 out of 5)

In Mouse Hunt, you are a little orange mouse who is trying to get the cheese before the big gray cats get you. It is pretty easy to play, but gets harder and harder as you go along. I found myself playing this free online PC game over and over again until my hands were aching!

Game Basics - In Mouse Hunt, you control your little mouse by using the arrow keys on your keyboard to move your mouse all over the board. Your goal - to get the cheese before the time runs out. Your enemy - the big gray cats that are running on the screen too. Now, the cats do not just run all over, they run in a special grid, either up and down or side to side. They stay on this same path every time, BUT, as you eat the cheese, another cat is added to the board. So, you will have different cats going up and down and side to side that you have to avoid as you make your way to the next piece of cheese.

While the game sounds easy, it is at first; but, once you add in about seven or eight different cats going every way on the board, it does start to get hard. You have to wait on them to get your next cheese so that they do not catch you and end the game. The more cats that you get, you have to really strategize on where you need to go, where and when to wait on a cat to go by, and when to jump out and grab the cheese. It gets pretty hard! But, it is still fun!

Graphics - Ok, so the graphics are not all that great in this game. The mice and cats are just simple little blobs of different colors with different shaped ears. It reminds me of the ancient mouse hunt game that my dad had on our first computer in the 1980’s. The board is just a plain gridded board that you run on, and the cheese is really simple as well.

But, overall, the game is fun to play, especially as just something to pass some time. It is a great challenge as you move up and get more cats added and I enjoyed playing it for ten or fifteen minutes over and over, until my hand started cramping! So, I’m giving Mouse Hunt a 3 out of 5, just because the graphics are not so good - but I’d still recommend it to those who need a good, quick time passer.
