Guide to Social Moodlets in The Sims 3

The Sims 3 is a very social game for most players. There are countless ways for Sims to interact and have fun. Sometimes interacting with others socially also gives Sims either a positive or negative mood effect. Find out which ones give which effect with this guide!

    The Sims 3 Social Moodlets

    Social Moodlets in The Sims 3 all involve interacting with other Sims, at least to some degree. Here are the current moodlets for social interactions in the game:

    New Friend – lasts for 8 hours and has a positive 20 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they have a new friend. Having new friends always helps the Sims 3 celebrity status too!

    Lost A Friend – lasts for 24 hours and has a negative 25 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they have lost a friend either through a bad friendship, or if their friend dies.

    Lonely – lasts for 14 hours and has a negative 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after their Social Needs is at a low bar of fulfillment.

    Desolate – this is one of the Sims 3 social moodlets that lasts until your Sim has social interactions with another Sim and has a negative 50 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after their Social Needs is at a critical low on their bar of fulfillment. Sims that are Desolate can talk to their objects to perhaps raise their need of social fulfillment.

    The Sims 3 Ghost Vampire and Grim Reaper   Mourning – lasts for 2 days and has a negative 50 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after your Sim’s family relative or best friend dies.

    Heartbroken – lasts for 2 days and has a negative 50 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after your Sim breaks up with their lover, or they witness their death. If your Sim sees their lover that dies get resurrected (by use of the Sims 3 Death Flower), this moodlet will be removed.

    More of The Sims 3 Social Moodlets

    Brightened Day – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they have had their day brightened by a Sim with the Good trait.

    Sims 3 Makeout  

    Cheered Up – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they have been cheered up from a sad moodlet they had (such as being heartbroken or in mourning).

    Comforted – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they were comforted from another Sim.

    Excited – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this the sims 3 social moodlets after your Sim is excited. Sims that have the Excitable Sims 3 trait will receive this when they are waiting to see a lover or friend, after they get a promotion, or after they have caught a new or bigger fish when fishing.

    Flattered – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they have been complimented.

    Impressed – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this sometimes after they have toured a community lot.

    Intrigued – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this sometimes after they toured the theater or Science facilities, or perhaps listened to a great lecture. Can also sometimes occur after using a Sims 3 time machine.

    Hilarious Conversation – this is one of the Sims 3 social moodlets that lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they have told three jokes in a row. Easier to pull off if your Sim is Charismatic.

    The Sims 3 Calm  

    Let off Steam – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they complained to another Sim, or went for a virtual adventure with their SimLife goggles.

    Calmed Down – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they calmed down from being angry.

    More Social Moodlets in The Sims 3

    Boring Conversation – lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 5 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this if they are engaged in boring conversation, such as a Sim repeating the same interaction often.

    Rude Guest – lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 5 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this if they have a houseguest behaving rudely or inappropriately in their home.

    Embarrassed – lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 20 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this if they didn’t make it to the bathroom in time and peed on themselves in front of another Sim. Sims can also receive this moodlet if another Sim walks in on them when they were WooHooing!

    Humiliated – this is one of the social moodlets in The Sims 3 that lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this if they lost a fight or were insulted from another Sim.

    Offended – lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this sometimes after they were insulted.

    Upset – lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this if another Sim was mean to them (especially friends or family members).

    Creeped Out – lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this if another Sim is getting too intimate too quickly with them or if another Sim repeats the same social interaction too many times.

    Disappointed – lasts for 24 hours and has a negative 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this if they had no answers on the forum, or gave advice to a Mixologist.

    Enemy! – lasts for as long as their enemy is around and has a negative 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this if their enemy is nearby them. However, if your Sim has the Mean Spirited trait, will instead receive a positive 10 mood effect.

    Charitable – lasts for 24 hours and has a positive 10 to 50 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they have donated money to a charity.

    Fiendishly Delighted – lasts for 6 hours and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this after they have trolled forums, donated to undermine a charity, or from watching another Sim suffer. Sim needs to have the Evil or the Mean Spirited trait in order to receive this moodlet.

    Ghost Hunter Profession  

    Scared – lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 25 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet when they are around the Grim Reaper, a mummy, Sims 3 ghost, from using a time machine, watching a scary TV, and possibly even from seeing a fire. Sims that have the Cowardly trait are scared more often.

    Tranquil – lasts for 8 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet when taking a bubble bath, or also from having the Neurotic trait and having a freak out.

    Feeling Anxious About Object – lasts for 8 hours and has a negative 15 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet if they have the Neurotic trait and are stressing out over an object being left on.

    Feeling Calm – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet if they have the Neurotic trait and were stressing out over object being left on, and then checked on it to be sure.

    The Life of the Party – this is one of the social moodlets in The Sims 3 that lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet if they have the Party Animal trait and used the Woo! (cheering) interaction with other Sims.

    Sims 3 Birthday Party  

    Awesome Party – lasts for 3 hours and has a positive 20 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet if they are the host to a party and have the Sims 3 lifetime reward “Legendary Host."

    Threw a Great Party – lasts for 24 hours and has a positive 30 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet if they are the host to a party and had happy guests.

    Sweet Venue Party – this moodlet lasts until the party ends and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet if they are throwing or at a party at a venue or community lot.

    Threw a Lame Party – lasts for 8 hours and has a negative 15 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet if they are the host to a party and had unhappy guests.

    Social Moodlets in The Sims 3 that Require Expansion Packs

    Some of the social moodlets in The Sims 3 require an expansion package. Here are the ones that have been released so far:

    In the Mood (requires The Sims 3: Late Night) – lasts for 2 hours and has a positive 25 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet from drinking a romance drink, and can possibly improve success with romantic social interactions.

    Wash Away the Worry (requires The Sims 3: Late Night) – lasts for 2 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet from drinking a drink, and can possibly lower the effect of some of your Sim’s negative moodlets that they had.

    Star Struck! (requires The Sims 3: Late Night) – lasts for 2 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet from meeting or spotting a celebrity. If your Sim is a celebrity, they will only receive this moodlet if the celebrity is a higher level than they are.

    The Sims 3 Bouncer  

    Snuck In (requires The Sims 3: Late Night) – this is one of the social moodlets in The Sims 3 that lasts until your Sim leaves and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet from sneaking into a VIP room in a Sims 3 club, bar, or lounge.

    Kicked Out (requires The Sims 3: Late Night) – lasts for 4 hours and has a negative 25 mood effect. Your Sim can receive this moodlet from being kicked out by a bouncer.
