The Sims 3

The base game of “The Sims 3” doesn’t have any cats or dogs that are a part of the family. These types of pets will be available with The Sims 3 Pets 2011 expansion pack that will be available in late October.

Until the new expansion pack is released, there are some smaller The Sims 3 pets that can be added to the home though. This includes the fish that can be put into an aquarium or a small fish bowl, butterflies and insects.

These small pets can all be found around the neighborhoods and the “Collection Helper” is a must use when trying to find harder to locate varieties. The fish in the aquarium need to be fed but the others are really just there for decoration as they don’t really require any involvement from your Sims after they are placed. These types of pets aren’t really a very fun part of the game, so it is a really good thing that there is a new expansion pack on the way that will deliver real pets to the game.

The Sims 3: Pets Expansion Pack

The expansion pack that will be released in October of 2011 is all about adding pets to the game. “The Sims 3: Pets” will add dogs, cats, and for the first time in the series – horses! You’ll get to decide how you want the pets to look and even give them personality traits. If you want a guard dog or a trusty horse, the choice is yours!

According to the information released about the expansion so far, there will be many different breed types of the pets that you can create. They also hint at Sims being able to tame wild horses.

The pets in the game will also be able to learn skills. Some examples revealed explain that dogs and cats will be able to learn how to hunt. Dogs will be able to learn how to fetch a date for your Sim and locate nearby items that can be collected such as The Sims 3 gems. Horses will learn how to jump and race. This is going to be a really fun part of playing as a pet because it will give the player more things to do in game that haven’t been experienced in the series before. Plus, how cool would it be to take your Sim to the park and use the dog to fetch them a date with a hot Sim?

Pets are a Part of the Family!

Anyone with a pet knows that they aren’t just an animal; they are a part of the family. “The Sims 3” agrees because they are now going to show up as a member of the household when added in the game.

The pets will have new types of activities and also social interactions in the game. Players will also be able to actually play as the pet, which is something that could be a really cool addition to the game. I wonder if a dog will have a wish to pee on a fire hydrant that you have to fulfill? This will allow your pets to either be perfect little angels or cause complete chaos in their Sims’ home.

Pets will be able to leave the house, so Sims can feel free to take their new dog or cat with them to the park, go riding on their horse to the new Equestrian Center in town, or to another one of The Sims 3 lots in their town.

Limited Edition of Pets

The Sims 3 Pets 2011 expansion pack is also available as a Limited Edition version of the game. Buying it in advance before it is released by pre-ordering it will give additional content to the game that will only be available this way.

The “Pets” expansion pack is available to play on the computer on either the PC or a Mac. Console versions of the game are available for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The Nintendo DS version is also available but it doesn’t include any additional content by pre-ordering it.

The PC version of the game bought this way will include a pet shop with exclusive objects only found with the limited edition. If pre-ordering for the console versions of the game, players will receive new exotic pets to add to their game. If this is an expansion pack that you are going to buy for your game anyways, it is a good idea to go ahead and pre-order it so you can get this exclusive content for your game.
