Gardening in The Sims 3

Gardening in The Sims 3 is a hobby that many Sims (and gamers) enjoy. Sims are able to search out seeds, fruits, and vegetables to grow in their own home garden.

When Sims are gardening by planting seeds, watering the garden, tending to the garden, fertilizing the garden, and even harvesting their garden, they are also increasing their gardening skill. This is however, not the only way (or most time efficient) way to raise your Sim’s gardening skill.

For the most time effective way to raise the skill, purchase all of the gardening books and read them in between doing any actual gardening. If you are using The Sims 3 cheats, you can max out their gardening skill in no time! Otherwise, just have your Sim read the books as they can, but still make sure to keep up with your garden so it doesn’t wither and die.

Some Sims really love to garden and even go out collecting special seeds, fruits, and vegetables to plant at home. It can be profitable and quite a fun way for Sims to relax. Special seeds include seeds that can grow special items such as life fruit, flame fruit bush, money tree, cheese plant, eggplant, burger patty plant, steak plant, Omni plant, and the death flower.

Plasma fruit is a new fruit that was introduced in The Sims 3: Late Night expansion pack. All Sims are able to purchase this new fruit at the grocery store, and then use it to start growing a plasma fruit bush to create more fruit for free.

Sims must be at least level 7 in the gardening skill to plant a Sims 3 plasma fruit bush. So, before trying to start gardening with this fruit, make sure you have those skills first!

It is considered to be a “Rare” fruit and when planted creates a Plasma Fruit Bush. Each plasma fruit can be sold for $18 Simoleons.

Caution: Even though all Sims can eat The Sims 3 plasma fruit, if a regular human Sim eats one, they will become very ill. It is really only meant for vampire Sims.

Vampires don’t always want to drink other Sim’s blood. Some are even vegetarian vampires and only eat plasma fruit (these vampires don’t sparkle and drink animal blood). That is why the plasma fruit is a good choice for vampires that are trying to be good, or perhaps just stay out of the paparazzi headlines by drinking the blood of other Sims.

When a Sim is turned into a vampire, they will receive three plasma fruits in their inventory to eat when thirsty (vampire Sims don’t get hungry, they get thirsty). If you are playing as a vampire Sim, it is a good idea to always have some of this fruit in your inventory to eat when thirsty. That way, you’ll never fully die and become a pile of ashes!
