New Super Mario Bros, World 3 & 4, Star Coin Guide
The adventure continues in Worlds 3 and 4 of this fun and popular Wii game. There's a World 9, but in order to unlock it, you must find all three coins in each level in each world. This detailed two-page guide tells you where all the coins are, from the easy-to-find to the most difficult.
There are more star coins to collect and more levels of World 9 to unlock, so grab your Wii remote and get ready to play some more New Super Mario Bros. If you haven't collected all the coins from the first two worlds, you can find the guide to World 1 & 2 here.
Once you complete the challenge of collecting all the star coins in World 3 & 4, you will be rewarded by unlocking World 9, Level 3 & 4. As always, remember that if you do not complete the level or if you die, you will lose credit for the star coins you have collected.
Coin 1: You will need a penguin suit. Slide through the bricks to get to the coin from either side.
Coin 2: This one can be difficult because timing is an issue. After the half way point, you will see the coin over a plant. You will need an ice suit to freeze the plant so you can jump on the ice block, jump to grab the coin, and get to safety before the block thaws. If you don't have an ice suit, using a mini Mario or propeller suit may work, too.
Coin 3: Near the end of the level, there is a green pipe blocked off by two bricks. Using a penguin suit, break the bricks and go down the pipe. Freeze one of the penguins, ride across it, jump up to grab the coin, and jump off before it thaws.
Coin 1: You'll see this one between two cannons, at the top of a pink tree. Use a propeller suit to get it.
Coin 2: Look for the cannons firing back and forth at each other. See the green pipe? Go down it. Use a propeller suit to get the coin, but careful of the cannons.
Coin 3: This one will be on a platform close to the end of the level. Either get a running start and time your jump correctly, bounce on a bullet, or use a propeller suit to get it.
Coin 1: This one is a bit tricky to describe, but you will want to look for a platform that is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. It will be early on in the level. It will have a ? block above it. There's a fake wall at the bottom you can go through to get to the water and swim to the coin.
Coin 2: Look for the Ice Brother past the half way point. The coin is in plain sight and you should get to it easily.
Coin 3: When you see a barrel, pick it up. Carry it over to the right and throw it at the coin, and you'll get it.
Coin 1: At the beginning, run to the left. There's a fake wall you'll pass through. You'll get the first star coin here.
Coin 2: This one is also hidden. When you get to the part of the level with climbing ropes, jump from the left on the shorter rope on the left. Use a wall jump if necessary.
Coin 3: At this point in the game, this coin is the most difficult to get. You will need to wait until you get to the part of the level with the rope running across the top. Grab the rope, going across until there is a floating platform going from left to right. Get on the platform, but as soon as it starts moving back to the right, jump off to the left. As you go down, move to the right, and you will find a secret door. Once inside the secret door, ride the platform down. It will drop and you will find the hidden coin.
Coin 1: Look for the big grayish-blue spinning square. Jump on at its highest point and jump up. You will see a secret door. Inside the door, you will see a spinning purple square with a star coin in the middle.
Coin 2: The coin is enclosed by gray bricks, which can only be broken by letting the rolling balls roll into them. Hit the first POW when you see it, and carry the second POW around, to prevent the balls from rolling into it. The balls will destroy the blocks and you can get the coin.
Coin 3: At the end of the level is grayish blue spinning platform. Jump from it at its highest point to the right, wall-jump up through the platform to get the coin.
Coin 1: Near the beginning of the level, you will see the coin right above a fire brother. You can get this one easier if you hit the P button on the world map before starting the level.
Coin 2: Look for the block of ice with a platform of bricks and a notch. Slide under the block and hit the notch to find the coin in a hidden spot.
Coin 3: Look for the ice pillars near the end of the level. Keep jumping through them until you reach the coin.
Coin 1: This coin is easy to see at the beginning of the level, near the right side. Hitting the P button on the world map will make it easier to get to.
Coin 2: You have to hit the P button on the world map if you want to get this coin. After you have done this, take the red pipe instead of the green pipe and you will see the coin.
Coin 3: You have to hit the P button on the world map if you want to get this coin. After you have done this, take the red pipe at the top instead of the green. The coin is located between four flying Koopas. If you don't have a propeller, you will have to wait for them to move so you can grab the coin.
Coin 1: Use a propeller or bounce off the yellow balls to get the star coin, located near some falling platforms towards the beginning of the level.
Coin 2: Jump on a Bob-Omb and kick it to the left to destroy the blue ice blocks and get the star coin.
Coin 3: While on the blue snake platform you will see some falling ones. Jump off to grab the coin and jump back on to continue to the end of the level.

Ready? Let's go get some coins!
For all the coins in this world, you will need either a Penguin Suite, or an Ice Flower.
Coin 1: The coin will be floating above water. Freeze the plant and ride the ice block up to grab the coin.
Coin 2: Shortly past the check point, you will see a fake wall that stops you from going anywhere near the surface. Run through it. Freeze the enemy and then grab the coin.
Coin 3: At the end of the level, you will see a higher pipe that you can't get to because the lower one is blowing water. Freeze the urchin, go over to the land, and grab the coin at the top of the pipe.
Coin 1: Jump on the barrel, get the coin. Jump off.
Coin 2: Pressing down while walking across the ledge will make you hang from it. This will help you get the coin.
Coin 3: Stand on the first bar until it drops. Stand on the lower ledge and press down to hang from it. Move to the right until hanging from the yellow bar. Press up, jump up to get the coin. Press down and then move to the right so you're safe.
Coin 1: You will need either a penguin suit or an ice flower. You will see a platform with a ? block, and the star coin is above it. Freeze the enemy on the platform. Jump onto the ? block and jump again to get the coin.
Coin 2: You need a Mini Mario, but one is right above here. Use the mini Mario to run across the water and run through the star coin to land, and safety.
Coin 3: Look for the tiny pipe, using Mini Mario to run across the water. Enter the pipe and get the coin when you see it.
Coin 1: You will see the coin above a conveyor sending boxes down. Jump up onto a box and grab the coin before it falls down off the belt.
Coin 2: The coin is located in a hidden spot below the half way point. Look for conveyor belts in a staircase design. Jump into the secret spot from the right on the third belt.
Coin 3: When you come out of the green pipe, boxes will be falling. Jump up and grab the coin, as it will be hidden by the falling boxes. Move to the right to avoid getting hit by the boxes.
Coin 1: You will need either a Penguin suit or an Ice Flower. Hit the blue P button after the half way point of the level. Take the yellow pipe coming out the top of the level. Grab the items in the two ? blocks. Freeze the enemy when it is right under the star coin, jump up and grab it, and get to safety before it melts.
Coin 2: This one is obvious, but difficult to get to without being hit by enemies. Be careful with your timing and try to have a power up.
Coin 3: Look for the vertical column before the last green pipe. Swim into the bottom of it and through the fake wall to find the coin.
Coin 1: Stand on the wide platform. Let it sink until you reach the coin.
Coin 2: On the third screen, run to the right to the last door. The wall on the right is a fake. Run to get the coin.
Coin 3: There is an alternate way to pass this level, so this is why you can't actually get the third coin before you get the second one. Stand on the sinking platform in the second area. It will sink enough to show another exit so you will see the coin.
Coin 1: You can walk on the trees, so it's not as difficult as it looks. Jump from the lower one to the upper one, then to the coin.
Coin 2: Though you can use the cloud to get this one, it is easier with a Yoshi or Propeller suit. The coin is located just before the half way point. You'll see it to the left of a short tree, between two fruits. Jump off Yoshi to grab it, use the cloud, or a propeller.
Coin 3: Look for the tall tree below the green pipe. To get to the top of the tree, use the cloud or jump off Yoshi.
Coin 1: Jump up on the grate and press B to flip it so you can grab the coin.
Coin 2: It is located between the corkscrews. When these are down, run across and grab the coin.
Coin 3: Go down the pipe at the boss' door. Start with the skeleton fish on the end and get in its view just enough to make it run into the wall. Do this enough times and you will have room to get to the coin.
You did it! You have all the Star Coins in World 4 and have just unlocked Level 4 of World 9. Take a break or continue right on to Super Mario Bros Worlds 5 and 6!
