iPhone Game Review: TightWire iPhone Game Review

TightWire iPhone Game - Game play (4 out of 5)

TightWire is a simple iPhone game that tasks you to control a largely built man as he makes his way from one building to another. Can you guess how he is going to cross in-between buildings? By walking on a tight wire, of course. Sounds easy, right? Not really. The game may seem easy during the first two levels, but wait till you advance to the succeeding ones and you’ll surely notice that beating the game becomes close to impossible. I really don’t know why but I was able to make the man cross the tight wire easily and immediately reached level 3. But after that, it took me quite a while to make him cross buildings without falling several times. Prepare to challenge your patience when playing this game.

TightWire iPhone Game - Controls (3 out of 5)

Now, this is the bread and butter of this game. TightWire is a fully accelerometer-controlled iPhone game. You try to balance the man as he walks on the tightwire by tilting your iPhone at the right direction at the right time. Tilting your iPhone too much will easily cause him to fall to the ground. Tilting your iPhone less might actually do the trick but it will also cause him to build up some weight and eventually cause him to fall. There’s really no right or wrong way of achieving balance. I guess it’s all about luck.

To vary the man’s walking phase you either tilt your iPhone upwards or downwards. Tilting your iPhone upwards make him walk slower, while tilting your iPhone downwards make him walk faster. Unfortunately, making him walk faster will not help in successfully crossing the TightWire.

TightWire iPhone Game - Graphics (5 out of 5)

The game graphics and animation are pretty decent. The large man was nicely rendered. When he falls from the wire, that’s when the fun begins. Can you imagine a large man falling from above and how he will look like splattered on the ground? Don’t worry, there isn’t any blood, just some cracked pavement caused by the impact of the large man to the ground.

TightWire iPhone Game - Sounds (4 out of 5)

There’s nothing much to say about the game’s sound. In fact, you will enjoy the game even without the background music. The scream of the large man falling was pretty hilarious though, as well as the sound he makes when he hits the ground.

Our Verdict (4 out of 5)

Overall, I would have to say that this game is a pretty fun and enjoyable game especially if you are looking for something new to play on your iPhone. The game though tends to get too frustrating especially if the man keeps on falling despite doing everything you could possibly do to make him stay on balance while walking on the wire.

_TightWir_e is currently available at the iTunes Apps Store as a free download. So, that pretty much say that you’ll lose nothing except some storage space if you decide to get this game. But believe me, you should.
