Letters to Big Bird - Computer Activities for Young Children

This preschool computer activity lets youngsters learn the alphabet. They must look at Big Bird’s shelf and pick an object that starts with the letter that Big Bird calls out. He will direct and give hints so that the child has plenty of strategies to review their letters. One of the questions Big Bird will ask is “What starts with the letter A” Then the child clicks on a tasty apple or smiley crocodile. Egg Counting Elmo

If you want to teach or review counting skills with your preschooler. How to count. Elmo is a popular character to make this happen. With his high pitched voice and bright funny smile Elmo needs the preschooler to count the eggs in the hen house. They will click on each egg and Elmo will count after the click. The cool thing is when all the eggs are counted, Elmo gives you a colorful happy dance and song to celebrate the victory. Happy Counting ! Alphabet Soup

Are you ready to make a delicious bowl of alphabet soup? Cookie Monster will show your preschooler the way with this activity, where Cookie Monster needs the student to click on a letter to fill the missing gap in the noodle words. For instance you may see B and G floating around in the soup and Cookie will ask you to choose from two large letter sounds above the soup. He will make the sound of the chosen letter so the child is able to pronounce the final word’s sound. This is a simple intro to reading. Keyboardo Rama

This is a great computer activity for a 2 to 3 year old toddler, who is introducing themselves to the keyboard. The toddler is asked by Elmo to press on the number key, which allows Elmo to count to seven. The toddler must also explore and press Elmo will say the letter along with a word that’s associated with it. What’s really cool about this activity is that if any other key is pressed, outside of the number or letter keys, Elmo will giggle. This allows the toddler to focus on what Elmo is asking for. Bumper Cars

We are now in the trash yard with Oscar the Grouch. The preschooler is asked to bring Oscar three pieces of trash that start with a specific letter. Once the preschooler has answered correctly, Oscar will give them a ticket to ride the cool bumper cars. Oscar will sound out the letter if these seems to be a delay in the preschooler answering the question. This will encourage then it also sound it out themselves. Read A Face

Can your toddler tell how a person is feeling by the look on their face? The toddler is presented with three faces of a child with different emotions, they are asked by Big Bird which picture shows a sad, angry or happy person. The toddler must click on the correct face and there you have it ! Each segment of this activity is reinforced with a clip from Sesame Street that has a song about the emotion that was just clicked on.
