What You Will Need in Order to get the Golden Axe in Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Nintendo Wii
Getting the golden axe in Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Nintendo Wii is probably the hardest golden tool to acquire in the game, not because it is a hard task, but because it is time-consuming and primarily all based on luck.
What makes the golden axe so desirable is that it does not break; you are able to chop down as many trees as you want, and the axe will work as good as new. There is no need to buy another axe in the game, ever!
The first time-consuming task in your quest to getting the golden axe is money (bells). In order to even come close to getting the golden axe you will first have to donate 200,000 bells to the town hall (donate your bells at the ATM machine) in order to get a new bridge built.
After the bridge is built, the next reward will cost you 400,000 bells; once you donate 400,000 bells, a fountain will be built in your town.
There are other neat unlockables as well that you will be rewarded as you donate bells to the town hall.
How to get the Golden Axe in Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Nintendo Wii
Anyhow, now that you have your fountain, your mission to getting the golden axe can now begin.
You will need to go up to the fountain with a regular axe and throw it into the fountain. After you throw the axe into the fountain a rabbit will magically appear and begin to ask you random questions. There are no right or wrong answers as everything is based on chance.
After the series of questions the rabbit will randomly give you a silver axe, a golden axe, or in some cases the rabbit will take your axe and give you nothing at all.
You could possibly get lucky and get a golden axe on your very first meeting with the rabbit, or you could end up having to visit the fountain with a new axe in hand each and every day.
The main thing that makes getting the golden axe so annoying is that you can only summon the rabbit once a day. You could of course set the games day ahead a day in order to summon the rabbit, but it is time consuming.
Before tossing your axe into the fountain, keep in mind that throwing in a silver axe will not greater your chances of being given a golden axe.

How to get the Golden Shovel, In Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Nintendo Wii
Obtaining the golden shovel in Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Nintendo Wii is a heck of a lot easier than getting the golden axe.
So, how do we get it? It is simple!
You till need 2 shovels, so if you only have 1 shovel, fast forward the games clock to the following day and buy another one. Next you can dig a hole anywhere on the ground. (You do not need to find any sparkling gold shine in the ground like you did in previous Animal Crossing games).
Once you bury the shovel, wait 4 days or fast-forward 4 days on your games clock.
Next you can return to the spot where you buried your shovel and dig it up. Notice anything different? The shovel should have transformed into the infamous golden shovel.
With the golden shovel in hand, you can now bury money in the ground for a rare chance of it sprouting into a money tree. Instead of growing fruit, the money tree will grow sacks of bells on its branches. The money tree is pretty cool to have growing in your town, especially if you are low on bells!
How to get the Golden Fishing Rod in, Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Nintendo Wii
Getting the golden fishing rod in Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Nintendo Wii is not very hard to do, but it will probably be amongst the very last golden tools you actually are able to get due to how time consuming it will be. In order to get the golden fishing rod all you have to do is catch every single type of fish in the game. Some fish only make themselves present during certain times of the day and certain seasons. As you can imagine, this is exactly why getting the golden fishing rod could take a very long time. Once you have the golden fishing rod though, you will be able to catch rare fish more often. Rare fish sell for more money at Nook’s, so getting rich quick with your golden fishing rod will be a breeze.
