Wild West Express Basics (4 out of 5)

Wild West Express is a basic town building game but with the use of trains thrown into it. In the game, you build farms, ranches, coalmines, lumber mills, and so on. These structures produce goods you can send by train. For example, the farm produces grain you can load up on your trains and send to different cities. As you send resources to different town you’ll earn coins to help build up your town. Water acts like energy and you’ll get more water over time or you can buy refills. Once your water has run out you’ll need to wait for it to replenish before you can complete tasks such as sending out more trains from your town. You can use the handy train schedule to see where your locomotives are and which ones are returning to you. With Facebook friends, you can exchange goods back and forth with each other.

The Town (3 out of 5)

Wild West Express

In Wild West Express, you can build up a town around your trains. Each building will help you produce goods to make money. You’ll start with a basic farm and can build up from there. Some examples of the goods you can produce include cattle with a ranch, lumber from a lumber mill, coal with a coalmine, and so on. A church, smelter, general store, weaponsmith, and iron mine, are some other examples of structures you can build in your growing Wild West Town.

Game Economy (5 out of 5)

The heart of Wild West Express is your trains and game economy. Each structure you have will produce goods that are very valuable to your town. You have many different goods to choose from and you don’t need to have them all in your town. Goods include grain, cattle, iron ore, coal, gold, lumber, food, steel, people, mail, guns, valuables, and horse carts. You might for example decide to sell grain and cattle it is entirely up to you how you want to run your Wild West town.

Decorations (3 out of 5)

Like many Facebook games, Wild West Express lets you get decorative too. You can erect a town sign, change the ground titles, make ponds, and decorate with a wide variety of shrubs. Rocks, cutting stump, wagon wheels, totem poles, pull cart, and graveyard are some other examples of decorative items for your town. It would be nice to see some other structure too such as different homes to give the town a lived in feel. I hope that extra decorative items will be added to the game soon but it already has a nice selection to pick from. With game cash, you can resize your game play area for added room.

Overall Game Play and Conclusion (4 out of 5)

Wild West Express is a nice Facebook game and shows some promise due to its economic system. There are plenty of goods to sell and make money with and you can use the NPC cities or your Facebook friends to accomplish this task. The game has a good soundtrack and overall there are no slowdowns in the graphics or game play.
