The regular daily activities such as practicing good hygiene can give your Sims positive mood effects. Find out what can cause your Sim to receive the good or perhaps bad effects from hygiene and can even lead to being squeaky clean or being smelly and being made fun of.
The Sims 3 Hygiene Moodlets
There are a few different positive and negative moodlets that a Sim can receive for either practicing good hygiene, or bad hygiene. Find out all about it with this guide to hygiene moodlets in “The Sims 3.”
Exhilarating Shower – lasts for 4 hours and has a positive 20 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this moodlet after they take a shower in an expensive shower.
Cold Shower – this is one of the Sims 3 hygiene moodlets that lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this moodlet occasionally when they take a shower in a cheap shower.
Squeaky Clean – lasts for 7 hours and has a positive 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this moodlet after they are fully clean from a shower or bath. If a Sim has the Sims 3 Lifetime Reward of “Dirt Defiant” it will last for 28 hours!
Duck Time – this is one of the Sims 3 hygiene moodlets that lasts for 5 hours and has a positive 15 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this moodlet when they take a bath with a “Ducksworth of Bathington” on the side of a bathtub. Your Sim can purchase the rubber ducky when shopping at the local grocery store in the neighborhood. If your Sim has the Hydrophobic trait, they will not receive this positive moodlet from practicing some good clean hygiene in the bathtub.
Grungy – lasts for 4 hours and has a negative 5 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this moodlet when they have low hygiene. After this moodlet runs its course, it will then become the Smelly moodlet. This negative moodlet does not effect Sims that also have the Slob Sims 3 trait .
Smelly – lasts until your Sim showers or bathes and has a negative 10 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this moodlet when they have extremely low hygiene. Being smelly will make other Sims not want to be around your Sim. This moodlet will quickly appear after peeing on yourself, and also when working out for a long amount of time. This negative moodlet does not effect Sims that also have the Slob trait.
Bad Breath or Minty Breath?
Garlic Breath – lasts for 3 hours and has a negative 5 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this moodlet after they eat garlic. Caution: this will also have a bad effect on your Sim’s social life! Not even Sims 3 makeup could help cover up bad breath!
Minty Breath – lasts for 4 hours and has a positive 5 mood effect. Your Sim will receive this moodlet after they brush their teeth. This moodlet can also occur after a Sim walks over an invented Floor Hygienator. If your Sim had the Garlic Breath moodlet, the Minty Breath moodlet will override it.
